BLOG #5: BBG CH. 5
I like the concept of free-writing. I feel like the hardest part of starting any kind of paper, regardless of what you’re writing, is putting your ideas down into coherent words. Writing for ten to thirty minutes straight without stopping seems like an efficient way to just get your ideas flowing. It’s like in "Shitty First Drafts" when Anne Lamott mentions how it should be like “the child’s draft, where you let it all pour out and then let it romp all over the place, knowing that no one is going to see it and that you can shape it later.” I also liked the idea of making list. I feel like coming up with something to write about can be difficult sometimes, too. Making a list of things that you care about or find interesting or don’t understand gives you things you can write about that won’t bore you. Writing about something you don’t find interesting or don’t care about would make the writing process even more difficult than it already is.
