No matter what you write, there’s a reason and purpose behind your composition. Knowing what the purpose or reason is, is part of the writing process. Regardless of what that purpose is, whether it’s to tell a story, to inform, or to persuade, there’s an audience that you’re communicating that purpose to. One of the things that was mentioned in this chapter that resonated with me is that no matter what you write or what your purpose for writing is, in some way, persuasion is a part of it. The audience is persuaded with the use of rhetorical appeals, which are ethos, pathos, and logos. “Even when persuasion is not your primary goal, it is always part of what you’re doing, no matter what.”
